Matthias Lee received his PhD in Computer Science at Johns Hopkins University, where he a focused on analyzing and processing massive scientific data-sets. His interests lie in Software Performance, eHealth, GPU-acceleration, NoSQL databases, Low-power ARM computing, cloud computing and everything Linux. Currently Matthias works at Appian as the Lead Performance Engineer, designing, developing and deploying performance testing and analysis frameworks. Previously he worked on the Performance Team for IBM Rational Team Concert as well as IBM Cloudant. He is also an active member and former president of the Baltimore Node Hackerspace. He enjoys tinkering on many projects, large and small, from computers and micro-controllers to auto mechanics and woodworking, from brewing beer to casting aluminum and everything in between.
